January 2026: the revealing reaction

Faced with the Iranian massacres of January 8–9, 2026 — thousands of protesters killed — his first reaction (January 12) was to denounce "the obvious interest of the United States and Israel in instrumentalizing the protests." The following week, the controversy over Vox's funding by Iranian opponents occupied the bulk of his Iranian tweets. The regime's victims: no mention.

What the method compels us to acknowledge

His Ukrainian coverage (19 tweets) includes a clear condemnation of Russia's invasion in February 2022, unambiguous about the aggressor. His single tweet on Afghanistan (2021) expresses genuine concern for Afghan women. These are real points of contact with suffering beyond the central conflict.
